SERIES OVERVIEW
As time goes by and we get a little older, we try to evolve with the changes that go one with our industry and the little part that we have in it. Over the years the The King Of The Lake has changed and implemented many things and raised the standards of many tournaments around the Lake. Like fishing techniques we have tweaked and played with certain tactics to make a good product even better. You never really hit a home run but you hope to chip away and get a step closer year to year.
The one thing that we are very proud of is that we paid more money than we took in with entry fees. We paid out 105% of entries again in 2010! Thank you to our sponsors for helping us out with this.
2011 is a BIG YEAR
We are introducing a few new things to the series but none are bigger in my opinion than No Communication. No Communication has been the biggest topic for discussion in our series for many years now and it's time to bring it in. No Communication will help the teams compete at a more level playing field and bring out the best one boat team on any given day. The nay sayers will advocate that it is impossible to police but we believe the stucture that will be in place will deter anyone from cheating as we have harsh rules that will definetly affect ones ability to fish tournaments in the future for this infraction. Most tournaments around the lake have gone to this rule as too many days were decided by group fishing. This will test team by team who is the best on that day in making the right decisions.
As you may know we have joined forces with another tournament per say. The Wilson Harbor Invitational is the newest tournament on Lake Ontario. It is owed and operated by Kevin Jerge and his group. When the dates this year made it difficult for us to choose when we would go to Wilson, I contacted them and proposed using their scores in our overall King Of The Lake Championship. They were receptive and we decided this would be a unique way for teams to have 2 different formats including a one day shootout to determine who is the King this year. To clarify things, in order to capture the overall Title you must fish (2) of the three 2 day events in Ontario and the WHI in Wilson N.Y. If you fish all events you will receive an additional 10 points to your scoring but will be able to throw out your worst score of the 3 three Ontario tourneys. Must keep the WHI score.
